An Introduction

FIMT SCHOOL of Journalism & Mass Communications

FIMT-School of Journalism & Mass Communication is one of the Department of FAIRFIELD GROUP OF INSTITUIONS which is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The department runs a 3 years degree course on Bachelor of Arts (Journalism & Mass Communication). Journalism & Mass communication is the study of how people exchange information through mass media to large segments of the population at the same time. The course is designed to train young professionals in the basics of journalism as well as in all current trends, including the latest development in cyber & electronic journalism for their all-round development.

During the 3 years course students get the insight in the field of research and development of mass & media with regular interaction from industry & academic personalities through workshops, Internship, visits & guest Lectures.

Designing & Editing Lab

Designing & Editing field often referred as communication design or visual communication.Studying designing & Image editing gives a chance to study about computer technologies, context, design principles & printing technologies.

Radio Jockeying & Anchoring Lab

Filmmaking & Photography Lab

  • Degree often have a strong focus on practical work.

Career Options

Mass Communication is a broad field. A student wrap up takes up the course in Mass Communications has number of career options before him. He/She can opt for Copy writer if he wants to go into Advertising, a Journalist if he has nose for news and Public relation officer if he wants to be the image builder of the company. But whatever career options a student choose, one thing that will be found common in all career options are meeting tight deadlines. The media people have to work in lots of pressure as they have to meet the deadline.
